Technology Enabled Teacher

How does one become a technology enabled teacher? What are the benefits of embracing technology? How much time should be spent on learning all the technologies available?

Over the past several months, I have been spending a growing amount of time understanding things I have never used before -- Syndication, Podcasting, etc. Wow! It does take some time to understand how these new tools can be used to teach our students. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm spending too much time on the technologies and not enough time on honing my skills in my craft. In short, which is more important -- content or delivery? It is my desire to be both an effective teacher and a valuable contributor to the body of knowledge. But it's very easy to get totally absorbed by doing one or another.
